What Could’ve Happened With Sarri & Tare if Lazio Missed UCL

Sporting director Igli Tare is destined to leave Lazio at the end of next month but things could’ve been very different had the team missed out on a top four finish.

The Biancocelesti have now mathematically guaranteed a top four finish, confirming their spot in the Champions League next season. An important goal, qualification gives the Roman club more resources to work with in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Lazio are now searching for a new sporting director to replace Tare, something that Maurizio Sarri will be happy about. The Italian coach has never particularly seen eye to eye with the Albanian sporting director and the change allows the team to take the next step forward.

As reported by TMW, had Lazio missed out on a top four finish and a Champions League spot, president Claudio Lotito would’ve stuck with Tare, offering him a new contract. This situation would’ve also see Sarri resign, ending his two-year spell in Rome.

Ultimately, Lazio secured a spot in the Champions League and Lotito decided to bet on Sarri rather than extending Tare’s 15-year spell as sporting director.
