Why Sarri Has Skipped Four Pre-Match Press Conferences This Season

Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri did not host a pre-match press conference prior to the clash with Udinese, the fourth time this season that he’s skipped one.

The 64-year-old Italian coach is coming to the end of his second season in charge of the Biancocelesti and is desperately fighting to guide the club back to the Champions League, something that’s firmly within grasp in the final weeks of this campaign.

Despite various rumours in recent months that Sarri could leave Lazio in the summer, linked to clubs like Milan and West Ham, the Italian coach is now expected to stay in the capital, keen to continue building his project.

As highlighted by Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), Sarri decided not to host a pre-match press conference on the eve of Lazio’s clash with Udinese, the fourth time this season that he’s done this.

The move has been agreed with Lazio, who are happy to avoid any pre-match distractions, and the coach himself is no fan of the ritual regardless.
