Tare Edges Closer to Lazio Exit as Contract Expiry Nears

Lazio sporting director Igli Tare is on track to leave the club at the end of next month, when his contract expires.

The 49-year-old Albanian has been with the Biancocelesti since the summer of 2008 and has experienced a number of ups and downs in the 15 years since, with recent times being more difficult for the sporting director.

Tare has not impressed in the transfer market in a little while now. Expensive deals like the €20m acquisition of Vedat Muriqi or the €10m spent on Denis Vavro did not pay off, and Maurizio Sarri has long had doubts about the Albanian director’s suitability for his project.

As highlighted by Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24), Lazio president Claudio Lotito has not officially confirmed Tare’s departure, but it seems likely as his contract is set to expire in six weeks’ time.

The 49-year-old’s responsibilities have been reigned in over the last year and Maurizio Sarri has already expressed his frustrations with the director, wanting new reinforcements to replace recent signings like Luis Maximiano and Matteo Cancellieri.
